Angus MP Dave Doogan has welcomed the commencement of a programme of 50+ Fairs across Angus, strting in Kirriemuir on Friday 30th June.
The events, which involve partnering with a variety of key local and national organisations, aim to provide free support and advice to Angus over-50s. Mr Doogan’s office, partnering with local groups, has stressed the cost-of-living crisis is a major factor in their decision to organise these events.
The first event in the Kirriemuir Bowling Club on Friday, saw visitors access support from their MP, MSP, Councillors, Citizens’ Advice, North East Sensory Services, Pension Wise, DWP, Fire & Rescue Scotland and many more.
The next in this series of events is in Montrose, on Friday 7th July, at Montrose Bowling Club, from 10am – 1pm, with further events in Arbroath, Brechin and Forfar later in the year.
Speaking after the event, Angus MP Dave Doogan said:
“Today’s 50+ Fair in Kirriemuir exceeded even my hopes for the event.
“To see so many constituents here, accessing advice to cut the cost of living, improve their own incomes, and get support with a whole host of other things, really brings home why these events are needed.
“Our aim has been to ensure everyone over-50 in Angus has the full range of support and advice they are entitled to – particularly with the skyrocketing cost-of-living pressures we are facing.
“I want to thank all of our partner organisations for taking part and look forward to collaborating positively with them at further events going forward – with the next of these being in Montrose this coming Friday.”
