SNP MP for Angus and Perthshire Glens

Dave Doogan is the SNP MP for Angus and Perthshire Glens, and was elected in July 2024. Dave was previously the the MP for Angus from 2019-2024.
Dave previously worked as an Aircraft Engineer within the Ministry of Defence before leaving to get involved in politics. He studied International Relations and Politics at the University of Dundee, while working part-time as a taxi driver, graduating in 2011 with a First Class Honours with two distinctions.
He was elected as a Councillor in Perth City North Ward in 2012, becoming Convener of Housing and Social Care, and re-elected in 2017, becoming Leader of the SNP Group. He worked for John Swinney MSP from 2011 to 2016 before being elected as the MP for Angus in 2019.
Dave stood as the SNP candidate for Angus in the snap General Election of December 2019. He won with an 8.7% majority, defeating the Conservative incumbent. In the 2024 election, Dave stood as the SNP candidate for the newly created constituency boundary of Angus and Perthshire Glens which he won with a 10.3% majority and with 40% of the vote share.
Dave has previously worked as the SNP Spokesperson for Defence Procurement before being promoted to the role of SNP Spokesperson for Defence. Dave also served as the SNP's Spokesperson for Energy Security and Net-Zero.
Dave is Vice-President of the Economics and Security Committee in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and formerly sat on the Defence Select Committee.
Dave is married with two grown up children.
